After creating a venture delivering milkshakes and puddings, a Rutland business is giving back by offering to deliver shopping to those who are self-isolating.
Ex-chef Mark Daniels and partner Steph Tarnham created Rutland Cakeaway in Edith Weston last year, but after the Coronavirus hit, they are also offering to deliver food to the Rutland Foodbank.
Stephanie said: "Mark is offering a shopping service for those who might not be wanting to risk the Tesco run and are maybe not so savvy with the online shopping systems, or people who have young children they don't want to take out with them.
"We are aware that a lot of people are not able to bulk-buy and will still rely on a weekly shop due to benefits or pension payments so Mark is offering to collect your shopping list, do your shop and drop it off for you.
"If you or a relative of yours may benefit from any help such as this, then please get in touch. He will be offering Mon, Tues and Wed mornings.
"The couple, who are running the free service, are both DBS checked and their kitchen has a five-star rating to give extra reassurance.
Steph continued: "We are also offering a food collection service, wherein if you would like to donate food or supplies to Rutland Food Bank but are self-isolating or unable to make the journey, you can hand it over to any of our delivery drivers and we will drop off a donation to them once a week."
As for Rutland Cakeaway, that continues to trade as normal, but delivery drivers will no longer take cash, in a bid to reduce the risk of infection.
Those seeking support are asked to ring 01572 729322 or leave a message on Rutland Cakeaway's Facebook page.
