It was announced last week that Belton House Retirement Home will be closing following an inspection which found that no improvements had been made.
Care bosses have said their first priority is the safety of residents at a retirement home that is being closed down.
The Care Quality Commission announced it was taking steps to close Belton House Retirement Home last week, after an inspection found there had been no improvements.
Two inspections in 2022 found the home was inadequate.
Now a CQC spokesperson has said: "An inspection at Belton House Retirement Home in Rutland on 3 August, raised a number of issues, and the home was rated inadequate and placed in special measures.
"At a follow up inspection in February, CQC found a lack of improvement and has taken action by starting the process of cancelling the provider's registration.
"The provider is working closely with the local authority to ensure everyone is moved out to suitable alternative accommodation.
"Our main priority is always the safety of people using health and social care services, and if we have concerns we will not hesitate to take action in line with our regulatory powers.
"We would encourage anyone who has concerns about a health and social care service to let us know. This can be done by using the give feedback on care form on our website or via our customer service centre on 03000 616161."
Rutland County Council is working to put alternative care arrangements in place for residents who will be affected by the closure of Belton House Retirement Home.

Following two inspection visits in the past six months, the CQC has confirmed it is taking steps to de-register the home due to concerns raised and a lack of improvement.
Having been notified of the CQC's decision, Rutland County Council has stepped in to ensure alternative care arrangements are put in place to meet the individual needs of 13 residents living at Belton House, before the home is closed on 23 April 2023.
