A date for the closure of Catmose Sports Centre in Oakham has been confirmed.

Catmose Sports Centre will cease to operate as a public leisure facility following the conclusion of Rutland County Council's contract with Stevenage Leisure Limited (SLL), which comes to an end on Friday 31 May 2024.

As things stand, all public access to the facility will end after this date. The owner of the sports centre building, Catmose College, has issued a statement regarding the possibility of ongoing community access for groups and sports clubs, beyond 31st May 2024. This statement can be read on the College's website.

Any clubs or groups needing information about alternative facilities in the County should contact: [email protected]

Cabinet in February 2023 approved an optional extension of SLL's contract for the operation of Catmose Sports Centre for up to 24 months, to 31 March 2025.

Rutland County Council has held discussions with SLL following the decision not to award a new contract for the operation of Catmose Sports Centre. As part of these discussions, SLL indicated that it was not in a position to extend its contract beyond 31 May 2024.
