Rupert Oliver Matthews has been elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland police area.
Voting in the elections for Police and Crime Commissioner took place on Thursday 2 May 2024. Verification and counting of votes took place on Friday 3 May.
The overall results of the election were as follows:
- Fizza Askari, One Leicester – 7,104
- Aasiya Bora, Green Party – 23,649
- Rupert Oliver Matthews, Conservative Party – 62,280 ELECTED
- Rory Palmer, Labour and Co-Operative Party – 61,420
- Ian Robert Sharpe, Liberal Democrats – 22,041
Leicester City Council is the lead authority for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland police area, which is covered by nine local authorities:
- Blaby District Council
- Charnwood Borough Council
- Harborough District Council
- Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council
- Leicester City Council
- Melton Borough Council
- North West Leicestershire District Council
- Oadby and Wigston Borough Council
- Rutland County Council
The overall turnout for the whole police area was 21.70%.
