A local band were spotted on Britain's Got Talent over the weekend.

The Houndogs, a local rockabilly trio made up of three brothers, was spotted on the popular ITV talent show over the weekend.

The programme, which began for 2024 on 20 April, caused a stir amongst local music fans who spotted the trio in the background and with other auditionees getting ready to take their shot with the BGT judges.

The show, produced by Simon Cowell and presented by Ant and Dec, welcomes hundreds of talented individuals from across the UK to take part in a winner-takes-all talent contest in which the winner receives £250,000 and a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.

Past winners include George Sampson, Diversity, Jai McDowall, Lee Ridley and Viggo Venn.

In the seventeenth series, it looks like a local band may be taking centre stage - although The Houndogs don't yet know when their audition will be televised.

Made up of brother Robert, Ian and David Wilson The Houndogs have been performing for over 15 years and have been endorsed by the likes of Tom Chaplain, the lead singer of Keane.

Playing guitar and performing some of the group's vocals, Robert says: "Playing music is probably the only thing I do that I don't have to do. There's a drive, a passion that makes me play the way I play. My first influence was Scotty Moore, Elvis's guitarist who inspired me to pick up my first guitar. It was like an itch that needed scratching, that itch never went away."

Ian added: "I have been into music from a very young age. As time has gone on I listen to all types of music, not just Rockabilly, from 1930's Blues right up to modern day, too many bands and artists to list."

Drummer, David, concluded: "I first started "drumming" when I was only eight years old (Well hitting a tea chest with a stick). A friend of ours later leant me a snare drum and cymbal. I got my first drum kit when I was nine years old."

The question is, will the local brothers impress Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli?
