More free live music is set to take place in Cutts Close this weekend, provided by Oakham Town Council.

Despite objections to a number of live music events in the public green space last year - meaning that community use of the bandstand has been limited - the live music events have returned to Oakham's Cutts Close this summer.

A Rutland favourite, The Houndogs performed on 16 June for Father's Day, and once again encouraged a large crowd to get out and dancing in the sun.

Last week, The Atomics took to the stage, playing songs by Blondie, The Pretenders, The Police, Squeeze, The Cars, Nik Kershaw, Duran Duran, Elvis Costello and many more.

Midnight City Band will be performing on Sunday 7 July from 2.30pm, and the 6-piece, female fronted disco and soul band look forward to joining the fun.

The Rutland Big Band and Smokestack Blues Band have also been confirmed for the following two weekends, with more top local musicians on the lineup for the summer series.

The last of the summer music events will take place on Sunday 25 August from 12pm - 5pm and will welcome town local bands to finish the season: Out of the blue from 12 - 2pm, and Vespa from 3 - 5pm.

This bank holiday extravaganza will include additional fun for all the family:

  • Free music
  • The Grainstore
  • Fair rides
  • Stalls
