A former bank and offices on Oakham High Street could become seven new flats, if plans are approved by Rutland County Council.

The Trustees of Ivor Crowson Developments has applied permission to convert 8 and 10 High Street into flats.

10 High Street was formerly home to Barclays but the branch closed in April 2023 and the offices at 8 High Street were vacated in September 2023.

According to the planning application, there would be three one-bedroom, three two-bedroom and one three-bedroom flats.

Barclays, on High Street, closed in April 2023 (Google).

A Design and Access Statement says: "We will maintain existing spaces and provide 12 cycle spaces for the flats with an additional 2 spaces for the shop.

"This development will make use of the largely redundant spaces above ground level.

"Renovations required to upgrade the building would help with the general maintenance of the building and ensure its long-term future."

The full planning application can be viewed here.
