Rutland County Council is once again supporting local shopping in the run-up to Christmas by offering free parking in its public car parks for several annual festive events.

As residents get ready for Christmas, popular late night shopping events will again be returning to Oakham and Uppingham.

Uppingham Late Night Shopping will take place on Thursday the 1st of December 2022. Parking charges will be suspended in all Council-owned carparks in Uppingham after 3.00pm, until the following day.

Oakham Late Night Shopping will be held on Monday the 12th of December 2022. Parking charges will be suspended in all Council-owned carparks in Oakham after 3.00pm, until the following day.

Parking will also be free in Council-owned carparks in both Oakham and Uppingham on Saturday 3 December as Rutland County Council extends its support for this year's annual Small Business Saturday, where consumers are encouraged to 'shop local' to support businesses in their local area. Councillor Rosemary Powell, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Rutland County Council, said: "We're really pleased to once again be supporting Christmas shopping events with the offer of free parking, as we know they provide a welcome boost for the two towns. I hope lots of people will take the opportunity to shop local and make the most of our fine independent retailers and small businesses."

On-street parking restrictions still apply in Oakham and Uppingham on all three dates. Any pre-paid parking sessions cannot be refunded.
