Rutland residents can get hands on at a range of courses and volunteering events at Rutland Water Nature Reserve.

There are loads of ways that you can get involved with the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust (LRWT).

Whether you want to volunteer on your local nature reserve, campaign with the team, join in at an upcoming event or get to know your local group, the team have got loads of ways that you can get involved, no matter your age or ability. There's something for everyone!

A recent course saw locals learning about the traditional skill of Dry Stone Walling, and over the two-day course, they rebuilt a section of dry stone wall in the reserve that had been targeted by thieves and been impacted by the weather.

The team said: "We had an absolutely fantastic two days of Dry Stone Walling at our Rutland Water Nature Reserve. Everyone had such an amazing time, and all the work will hopefully stand for decades to come, always giving us and everyone who took part, a sense of pride in achieving something long lasting, something that will always be a part of the story of Rutland Water. A big thank you to everyone who took part."

If this isn't quite your speed though, you can volunteer in the nature reserve visitor centre, support the half term forest schools, sign up to assist with the more hands on projects that vary from season to season or volunteer at the Wildlife Trust head office.
