A five-week Lindy Hop course for complete beginners is being staged in Oakham in the new year.

The introduction to the American dance form - born in New York City's Harlem in 1928 and popular during the swing era of the late 1930s and early 1940s - is being held at the Victoria Hall, starting on Sunday, 12 January.

"The course is an introduction to the basic steps and techniques to get you started.

"What better way to burn off your Christmas calories and have fun, whilst learning a new skill," says organiser Diahann Berridge.

The course costs £25 per person for the five sessions and booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Class dates and times are:

Sunday, 12 January at 4pm

Sunday, 19 January at 10.30am

Sunday, 26 January at 4pm

Sunday, 2 February at 4pm

Sunday, 9 February at 4pm

For more information or to book contact Diahann on 07779 262508 or email [email protected]
