A Rutland school has received a Good Ofsted rating following a recent inspection.
Edith Weston Academy, which is a part of Brooke Hill Academy, was praised for working well with military children and dubbed a 'welcoming' place.
The school is located near to St George's Barracks and, as such, has a large number of military children in attendance. The school's success with these children was noted, alongside other strong features, in the recent Ofsted inspection.
The inspection undertaken in January found that behaviour management, extra-curricular activities and the new curriculum were just some of these strong features boasted by the school.
The report began: "Edith Weston Academy is a happy and welcoming school. Teachers and leaders have created an inclusive environment where nurture and care are at the centre of all that they do. Leaders and staff know pupils well and have clear aspirations for all pupils to be successful. Pupils talk about the 'character muscles' that teachers encourage them to develop. These include friendship, curiosity, courage and kindness. Pupils demonstrate these values and show a great deal of care towards one another."
It added that: "Staff are proud to work at the school. They talk about feeling part of a team and value the input that they receive to support their workload and well-being. They enjoy working with staff across the trust to develop their practice."
The school maintained this rating following their last inspection in November 2017.
The report noted that the areas the school could improve upon include:
Following the introduction of a new curriculum, learning and understanding levels should be matched carefully.
A more streamlined process to support sharper and more effective analysis of pupils' behaviour could be implemented.
Congratulations to the team at Edith Weston Academy.
