There is so much going on in Rutland this half-term, including events to keep the whole family entertained until Halloween.

Spooky Mini Golf and Halloween Trail

Who's ready for some spook-tacular Halloween fun this October half term at Rutland Water?

Kicking off the Halloween festivities at Sykes Lane Visitor Centre, Rutland Water, is the spooky mini golf and trail with scare-tastic surprises around every corner.

Rutland Open Art Exhibition

The annual Rutland Open Art Exhibitions is on display at Rutland County Museum until Saturday 21 October 2023.

This is an exhibition of artwork by artists from Rutland and the surrounding counties and is produced by Arts 4 Rutland.

The Exhibition is open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10am until 4pm, and is free.

Jurassic Afternoon Tea

The Jurassic Afternoon Tea at Rutland Hall Hotel will be available from this weekend, 14 October, and throughout the upcoming half term and 12-5pm every day. Priced at £20, it's the perfect way to make your family's half-term break extra roarsome!

Blending scrumptious flavours with interactive fun, this afternoon tea promises to be a roaring success and the perfect way to celebrate World Archaeology Day.

Performing Arts Holiday Club

Enrol your kids in a full five day Performing Arts Club at Victoria Hall, Oakham, for only £100.

The club runs from Monday 16 until Friday 20 October, from 9am until 4pm. The performance will take place from 4pm until 6pm on Friday.

Half Term Fun and Games at the Farm

From 16 - 29 October, Rutland Farm Park will be hosting a series of half term fun and games throughout the October half term.

Enjoy getting up close with animals on the farm, learning about the local attraction with the friendly team and join in with a host of activities taking place across the farm.

Don't forget to head to Daphne's Tea Rooms for some seasonal snacks and more too!

The farm will be open from 10am until 4pm.

Rocks By Rail Open Day

On 17 October, Rocks By Rail is hosting their Remembrance Event – "We Will Remember Them" – to mark the 80th Anniversary of the completion of the Burma – Siam "Death" Railway in Thailand.

The attraction will be open from 10am until 4pm at Rocks By Rail, Ashwell Road, Oakham, LE15 7FF.

Rutland Morris Workshop

The Rutland Morris Men are hosting a workshop to experience the 'Morris way'. 

Join the team on October 18 at Uppingham Town Hall from 1pm until 2pm.

Bingo at The Plough in Greetham

On Wednesday 18 October, The Plough in Greetham are hosting their cash prize bingo night, eyes down at 8.30pm.

A main book of 5 games costs £7.50, plus boost your chances with a flyer at £2.50, new for this week.

Minimum £50 prize for a full house on game 5 of the main game!

The team will also be hosting their Quiz Night on 19 October.

The event costs £1 per person to enter, max 6 person per team.

Witches, Wizards and Wands Crafts

On Wednesday 18 and 25 October from 10.30am until 12pm and 2pm until 3.30pm, the Witches, Wizards and Wands Craft sessions will be taking place at Rutland County Museum.

No need to book, but places will be on a first come, first served basis and cost £2.50 per child. Under 4s go free.

Another Witches, Wizards and Wands Workshop will be taking place on Monday 23 October, but this time at Oakham Castle.

This session will take place from 2pm until 3:30pm. It is limited to 12 places, so must be booked in advance at Oakham Castle or Museum.

Half Term Arts and Crafts

Half term activities are back at The Barnsdale on Friday 20 October from 4pm until 6pm. Join the team for some Arts and Crafts with Caroline from Rutland Book Nook.

Bring the kids for tea and and some arts and crafts fun for £15.

Pizza and chips are included for the kids tea - and a welcome glass of rosé for the parents!

Farmers Market

Head down to Gaol Street on 21 October to enjoy the monthly farmers market in the heart of Oakham.

Buy fresh produce, crafts and gifts, or indulge in cooked food and meats direct from the farmers.

Wizard of Oz

Join Ballet Theatre UK as they follow the yellow brick road and discover all the wonders of Oz, on 26 October.

Witness Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion, (and yes Toto too) seek the Wonderful Wizard to find that there's no place like home!

The Wizard of Oz is a two act, full-length, ballet adaptation of the iconic tale by L. Frank Baum, told through the magic of classical dance. Set to a classical score which brings the story to life, this production is family friendly and is the perfect way to introduce children to the classical ballet.

The production is presented with beautiful backdrops, stunning theatrical sets and costumes evoking the iconic sketches by W.W. Denslow, from the original publication.

Spooky Stories and Creepy Crafts at Ketton Library

Enjoy free spooky stories and creepy crafts at Ketton Library on Wednesday 25 October from 10:30 until 11:30am.

Halloween Ball

Something spooktacular is coming to The Barnsdale! The first ever Halloween Ball is taking place at the recently re'vamped' venue on Saturday 28 October.

Enjoy a three-course dinner and a creepy cocktail included for just £45 a ticket.

Halloween Prize Bingo

Join the team at Market Overton Cricket Club for a night of Halloween family bingo this October. 

The event will take place on 29 October, with the doors opening at 6pm and eyes down at 7pm.

Everyone is welcome to join in, and there will be a great raffle taking place too.

Tolethorpe Hall Clothing Sale

On Sunday 29 October 2023, Tolethorpe Hall, home of Stamford Shakespeare Company, will host its second clothing sale, featuring over 40 stalls by local people and traders selling preloved, vintage and costume clothing and accessories galore!

Doors open to the public from 10am until 4pm and free entry invites everyone into the magic of Tolethorpe Hall.

Cash payment is preferred and parking is free.

Creepy Crawlies and More

On Sunday 29 October, Rutland Farm Park will be hosting a live creepy crawly event.

You can get up close with some unusual creatures and critters, as well as enjoy face painting and a seasonal snack at Daphne's Tea Rooms.

Royal Duke Halloween Party

The Royal Duke will be hosting their Kids Halloween Party on Tuesday 31 October from 4:30pm - 6:30

There will be a buffett, games, prizes, kids quiz, and of course a prize for the best dressed boy and girl.

Psychic Supper

The team are delighted to be welcoming back Simon Goodfellow for a Halloween Special Psychic Supper at Radish, Rutland Garden Village. These events always sell out so do not delay in purchasing your tickets!

Tickets cost £30 per person and this includes nibbles for the table and a supper of chilli. Drinks and desserts are sold separately.

Halloween Walking Tour of Oakham

Meet at Oakham Castle and join the spooky tour around Oakham on 31 October at 4:15pm. The tour starts at 4:30pm and fancy dress is optional!

The tour lasts for approximately 45 minutes and includes a treat bag for all children joining the tour. Tickets cost £10.00 per child, and accompanying adults go free.
