Oakham Town Council and The Oakham Skatepark Project team have announced that they will be hosting two open events at ROL House to give Rutland residents the chance to discuss the plans for the proposed skatepark at Centenary Fields.
Jon Dixon and the team of the Oakham Skatepark Project have been working hard to instigate and maintain conversation about the construction of a new skatepark in Oakham, which has been met with mixed feedback on social media.
However, the group released a survey in July 2022 and, having been completed by 489 Rutland residents, the project appears to be well supported.
The survey which has now closed showed that 85% of responders were in favour of the skatepark being built on the land at the Centenary Field on Barleythorpe Rd.

Any Oakham and Rutland residents who would like to discuss the project with the team leaders are invited to attend two open events at ROL House, Long Row.
These will take place on:
- Saturday the 15th of October between 2pm and 4pm
- Tuesday the 1st of November between 5.30pm and 7.30pm
These open events will provide the community with the opportunity to learn more about the project, including but not limited to funding initiatives, location, and noise levels.
Oakham Town Council said: "Please drop in on either day to give the group your input. Although the group is hoping to use the Centenary Field this has not yet been agreed by full Council. If you feel other areas should be considered this is the time to put your views forward. Cutts Close is not an option as English Heritage will not allow us to change what we already have."
Interested parties can pop down to the open events or find out more about this project on the Oakham Skatepark Project Facebook page.
