Rutland County Council is calling on residents and local businesses to take part in a consultation about its latest annual budget.

The budget outlines the council's spending plans for 2025/2026, including details about Council Tax and how the authority plans to manage finances.

Recent changes within government have had a massive impact on how councils will be funded going forward, including removing a grant that previously gave RCC more than £1 million per year towards running rural services.

Overall, the changes have led to a 14% decreased in grant funding, increasing financial pressures on the council.

The public consultation regarding this budget is live and will run until Sunday 2nd February.

Further information, including details of how to take part in the consultation, can be found online by visiting: www.rutland.gov.uk/budget. Anyone without internet access can take part by calling: 01572 722 577.

The Council will also be holding two pop-up budget consultation events in Oakham and Uppingham Markets on the following dates:

  • Oakham Market, Wednesday 22 January from 8.00am to 2.00pm
  • Uppingham Market, Friday 24 January from 8.00am to 2.00pm

All the feedback received as part of this consultation will be reported back to Cabinet and Full Council at the end of February, helping councillors to debate and make a final decision.
