Passenger services between Leicester and Peterborough will resume today, Wednesday the 23rd of November 2022, after a bridge strike in Ketton, Rutland caused extensive damage, leading to the closure of the line earlier this month.

A lorry carrying a heavy load struck Foster's bridge on Saturday the 5th of November shortly before 8am. Foster's Bridge crosses the A6121 Stamford Road, and was so badly damaged that a significant part needed to be replaced before trains could be permitted to run safely again.

East Midlands National Rail shared the final repairs on Twitter:

The rail head treatment train is making its way over the newly repaired bridge at Ketton following the bridge strike earlier this month. It'll help us make sure the railway is ready for @CrossCountryUK passengers to use it again in the morning pic.twitter.com/HKpMv3un0P
