There is less than one week to have your say on school experiences for young people and children across Rutland.

Rutland County Council is working with a small group of parents and carers to understand the school experience for children and young people in Rutland, emphasising the importance that young people feel they "belong".

As such, they are asking parents and carers to respond via a survey, which is set to close on Sunday 14 April 2024.

This comes after, earlier this year, the council announced that The Parks School would be closing as it is no longer "viable", despite objections from parents, staff and students.

Parents opposing the closure have raised £5,000 to support a legal battle against the decision, and will be hosting a fundraiser to support their campaign later this year.

A spokesperson for Rutland County Council said: "Rutland County Council is working with a small group of parents and carers to look for ways to make sure all children and young people in Rutland have a positive school experience and feel they belong.

"The working group really wants to find out what you think and have developed some questions to understand how you and your child feel about school, what your child likes about school and if there are things that you would like to see changed to make school life better.

"If your child is at a Rutland school, you may have received this survey already, if not and you would like to share your your thoughts, please complete the survey by 14 April 2024."

All responses will be anonymous and no personal data will be collected. Any comments that may identify a child, family or school will be deleted. The responses will be held and analysed by Rutland County Council to understand common themes.

Responses will be collected via Survey Monkey and will be stored for a maximum of 12 months. Respondees may withdraw their data at anytime by emailing [email protected].
