All LGBTQ+ youth in Rutland have been invited to join a safe space.

Rutland has, over the last two years, been put on the map for more than just its stunning countryside and rich history, since launching a countywide pride event and hosting a range of LQBTQ+ friendly events.

Oakham Pride was launched in Rutland's county town in 2022, and was attended by over 500 members of the local LGBTQ+ community and allies.

The 2023 event was equally popular, and solidified the town and county as a space where members of the LGBTQ+ community are not only welcome, but celebrated.

Now, Rutland's youth can also find a safe space within the local community at a monthly hub hosting LGBTQ+ teens between the age of 7 - 13.

The group meets at the Odd House Building, Station Road, Oakham, from 5:15 - 6:45pm for ages 7 - 9, and 7 - 8:30pm for those aged 10 - 13.

A spokesperson for the Youth Services team said: "Join our safe and inclusive space for ages 7 - 13. Celebrate your true selves with peers who understand. We meet every third Wednesday of the month. Let's build connections, share stories, and empower each other!"
