Local students and parents have been asked to remain vigilant after reports were made of a man approaching young people and 'encouraging them to get in to the back of his white Mercedes'.

Catmose Primary School and Catmose College have sent a letter out to each parent or guardian stating:

Please be aware that we have reported to the police a concern received about a man in the local area approaching young people encouraging them to get in to the back of his white Mercedes van. He was described as a middle aged man who spoke with a strong foreign accent. He was offering sweets and ice creams to children to lure them into the van. Please speak with your child to ensure they are aware of the situation and our safety concerns around this. Please report any incidents or information you may have to the police.

Specific details of this report have not been shared, but parents of children at other local secondary and primary schools have spread the word and are urging fellow parents and guardians to keep their children informed.

One local mother has implored Rutland residents to 'keep our little humans safe!'
