A newly-reopened local pub is offering a huge range of gluten free food as they attract new punters.

The Noel Arms at Whitwell reopened under new management in late August, following a short closure in which the new team have refurbished the venue.

The venue closed in late June as the previous landlord - and his son, who was the chef at the popular rural eatery - moved to take over The White Horse in Empingham.

Following this, Kevin Kavanagh and Karen MacGregor took over The Noel Arms on 22 June 2023.

They said: "We are very proud to have this opportunity as it has always been a dream of ours to live in Rutland and have a restaurant, pub, hotel.

"We are carrying out major renovations and refurbishments and bringing the The Noel Arms back to life. All of which are being done with an abundance of love and attention to maintain its heritage but with modernisation.

"We have carried out works on the bar and bar dining area but this will be constantly changing over the next six months with the plans we have in place."

As a part of these changes, the team have updated the menu, and have included a range of gluten free meals to ensure that the pub becomes a popular spot for a range of local food enthusiasts.

On the menu are options such as confit of duck leg, chicken bread, lamb cutlets five bean chilli and other pub classics.

Tuesday and Wednesday 12pm - 8.30pm

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12pm - 9pm

Sunday, 12 midday - 5pm

The bar will be opening until 11pm daily.

The website will be up and running soon,

The duo concluded: "We have plans for the next two years, which involve huge changes and is very much a labour of love and this will not stop!

"If you have been before, then we cannot wait for you to see our improvements, which are very exciting.

"We look forward to welcoming you at The Noel Arms."
