The A1 is closed northbound between the B1081 (Tickencote) and B668 (Stretton) due to a lorry fire.

Updates will be added here throughout the day.

6:30pm:

The A1 is still closed between Tinwell and Stretton, and the A606 appears to remain closed from Tinwell to Empingham. Rush hour traffic was busy in Melton and the surrounding areas, but is easing off into the evening.

Rutland County Council have not yet released any information about the resurfacing that was scheduled to take place today (Tuesday 7th June) on the A606.

2pm:

Melton Mowbray is experiencing heavy traffic due to the diversions.

1pm:

The A1 between Tinwell and Stretton is still closed.

The A606 between Tinwell and Empingham is also closed, with the surrounding areas experiencing delays and heavier traffic than usual.

10am:

Emergency services are on scene.

Travellers are advised that delays are beginning to build on approach, so to avoid the road if possible.

Rutland County Council have said: "The surface dressing work planned for the A606 will not go ahead until the A1 is open again - this may mean there is not enough time for the surface works to take place today. We will update as soon as we know more."

Check here for updates throughout the day.
