Rutland County Council is inviting representations on the Market Overton Neighbourhood Plan, which has been formally submitted by Market Overton Parish Council.

This comes after the passing of the Oakham and Barleythorpe Neighbourhood Plan on the 26th of May 2022.

The Neighbourhood Plan sets out how Market Overton should be developed over the period to 2036 and has been prepared by Market Overton Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, following consultation with the local community. It includes policies covering design, housing, the environment, the local economy and community facilities.

The submission plan and supporting documents are available to view on the Neighbourhood Planning section of Rutland County Council's website.

Hard copies of these documents are also available to view at Rutland County Council's offices in Oakham and the foyer area of Market Overton Village Hall. The hall is open for viewing at the following times:

  • Mondays from 5.00pm-6.00pm and 7.00pm-8.00pm
  • Tuesdays from 5.00pm-8.00pm
  • Wednesdays from 10.00am-1.00pm
  • Thursdays from 10.00am-4.00pm
  • Fridays from 9.30am-12.30pm

Consultation on the plan runs until 5pm on Thursday the 15th of September 2022.

Once the consultation has closed, all representations and comments received will be passed to an independent examiner who will consider the representations and recommend whether the Neighbourhood Plan should be put to a community referendum.

If you have any questions about the Market Overton Neighbourhood Plan or how to take part in this consultation, please email: [email protected] or call: 01572 722 577.

These plans are becoming a County-wide initiative, with the Langham residents being asked to comment on the Langham Neighbourhood Plan in July 2022.

Did you vote in favour of the Oakham and Barleythorpe Plan, or are you against the implication of these parish documents?

Get in touch and share your opinion by emailing [email protected].
