Monthly update from Rutland Police
By Grace Kennington 9th Mar 2026
Rutland Police have shared a monthly update on what they have been working on recently.
Burglary
Rutland North Police have carried out targeted patrols in areas affected by burglaries, collecting information, checking CCTV footage and following up with victims.
Road Safety
Rutland North Police say they have maintained a 'high-visibility presence through regular marked patrols, speed monitoring and use of the speed gun.'
They are continuing work with partners, including the road safety partnership mobile camera van to target problem areas.
The force also attended several road traffic collisions, investigated the incidents and have seized multiple vehicles for issues such as not having insurance.
They also carried out speed checks and ANPR across several Rutland villages and attended parish and engagement meetings to update residents on what they have been up to.
Rural Crime
Officers are working closely with the Rural Policing Team to carry out proactive day and night patrols, responding quickly to reports of hare coursing and dealing 'robustly' with offenders.
They have also visited victims, processed enquiries and supported the team's effort to recover stolen equipment.
The Rural Policing Team hit a big milestone of recovering £3 million worth of stolen machinery that has now been returned to local farms.
Priorities for March
Rutland South Police also shared their Beat Priorities for March, saying they will be focussing on road safety and speeding this month following feedback from residents.
In a post on Facebook, Rutland South Police shared: 'Through consultation, you have identified Road Safety (speeding) as remaining a priority the people of Rutland South want us to continue to address through the first quarter of 2026.
'Speeding vehicles on Rutland roads are a priority you want us to address across the county, but in South Rutland in particular, the A47 corridor and tributaries.'
They go on to say that they will be carrying out frequent 'overt policing' in the area, using marked police vehicle patrols and hand held speed monitoring guns.
They will also continue to work closely with their colleagues in Road Safety to highlight key areas of concern and request resources be sent to that area.
Rutland Police, North and South Beats and the Rural Policing Units regularly share updates on what they are doing across the county, as well as holding surgeries for residents to speak directly with officers and update local authorities.
