This week, 22 - 29 January, is Neighbourhood Policing Week across the country, and Rutland's Policing team have been keeping local residents up to date with their progress.

Organised nationally, the initiative recognises the vital and important work done by local neighbourhood policing teams, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and volunteer staff on a daily basis across the area.

The Rutland team launched the week with an impressive cannabis find in a local home, and have also been tackling theft, anti-social behaviour (ASB) and parking issues across the area.

PC Robinson said: "This week is neighbourhood policing week of action. So far this week, I have spoken to people around issues raised with parking around the local area and I have been engaging with the public around the concerns raised regarding anti- social behaviour (ASB).

"The issues raised have been noted and plans in place to deter and deal with those causing the issues. This will be done working alongside partner agencies to further reduce the impact on the community.

"Today, I have had the pleasure of being invited to Oakham School to meet a number of staff members. They have asked for advice and support in certain areas which will be provided in the coming weeks. There was a report of ten bikes being stolen from the school, five have now been located and returned thanks to the community. If you hear or see anything regarding these bikes please let the school and police know.

"Being out on foot patrols and engaging with the community is just part of my role as your beat officer. Alongside the above I have also this set been investigating crimes such as assaults, thefts, public order and harassment. From investigating these I have interviewed several suspects and currently getting files ready for further review and to seek charges.

"I will be out and about on foot patrols during the day tomorrow after engaging with students, if you see me around come and say hello."

Rutland has also welcomed a new PC in recent weeks. Read more about PC McKinnon here.

The team concluded: "Keep an eye out on Facebook for the rest of the updates for neighbourhood policing week."
