The High Sheriff of Rutland is hosting her first charity concert on Saturday 22 April 2023.

Geraldine Feehally, the new High Sheriff of Rutland, is hosting her first fundraising concert this month, and will be supporting Rutland's food charities as they work to get food to the people of Rutland most in need.

High Sheriffs provide support to the Judiciary, the Police, the Emergency Services, the Prison and Probation Services and to agencies involved in crime prevention, particularly with young people.

They receive no public funds, instead giving back as an independent, non-political entity, encouraging statutory and voluntary organisations and presenting awards to deserving individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their local communities and the county.

Having taken over the role from former High Sheriff, Geoff Thompson, in March, Geraldine is kicking things off with a charity concert to be hosted at Uppingham Town Hall later this month.

Rutland is home to a range of food charities, from Rutland Foodbank to Rutland Community Fridges, run by Root-and-Branch-Out, who also host weekly 'Souper Space' soup kitchens in both Oakham and Uppingham.

These organisations ensure that food waste is minimised and those most in need in the local area are kept well-fed.

The number of people using food banks across the country has never been higher, so this cause is of particular importance to Rutland's officials and leaders.

There are still tickets left to support this cause, and they cost £12 each. Included in the price, attendees can enjoy great music for dancing, a free bread and cheese supper, and a cash bar.
