A Notice of Referendum has been published for the Referendum on the Adoption of the North Luffenham Neighbourhood Plan.

The Referendum will be held on Thursday 19 October 2023 to decide on the question:

‘Do you want Rutland County Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the Parish of North Luffenham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’

This follows the introduction of the Ketton and TinwellMarket OvertonLangham, and Oakham and Barleythorpe Neighbourhood Plans over the last eighteen months.

The Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan is also under discussion, alongside the Whissendine Neighbourhood Plan.

Neighbourhood Planning gives local communities the opportunity to shape development in their area through the Localism Act 2011.

More than 50% of the votes cast must be in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan to bring it into force. As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must then formally adopt the Plan within eight weeks of the referendum.

Further details can be found in the full Notice of Referendum, published online. Polling stations in the referendum will not have copies of the Neighbourhood Plan and polling staff are unable to answer any questions about the proposals.

Further information about the Neighbourhood Plan itself can be found online.

As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must formally adopt the Plan within eight weeks of the referendum.
