Residents in Ketton and Tinwell have voted in favour of a Neighbourhood Plan for their area, following a referendum on Thursday 20th July 2023.

This follows the introduction of the Market OvertonLangham, and Oakham and Barleythorpe Neighbourhood Plans over the last year.

The Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan is also under discussion, alongside the Whissendine and North Luffenham Neighbourhood Plans.

The county-wide referendums ask residents:

Do you want Rutland County Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the Parishes of Ketton and Tinwell to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

More than 50% support from those who voted is needed to bring a Neighbourhood Plan into force.

The number of people who voted 'Yes' in response to the referendum question was 520 (93.69%). The number voted 'No' was 35 (6.31%). Total turnout for the referendum was 32.31%.

The full Declaration of Result of Poll for the Ketton and Tinwell Neighbourhood Plan referendum can be viewed here.

Further information about the Neighbourhood Plan itself can be found online.

As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must formally adopt the Plan within eight weeks of the referendum.
