Did you know that we share your engagement and wedding stories with Nub News?

Make your proposal or big day extra special with a unique grand gesture: shout from the rooftops and tell your story to local people, family, friends and neighbours with Nub News.

We recently covered the marriage of two familiar faces from Oakham's twice-weekly market, as well as the marriage of a local landlady in the summer.

At Nub News, we know that sometimes the news feels as if it is full doom and gloom, so it is a pleasure to share good news stories with the local community - we just love Love!

And so does the Editor of Oakham Nub News, who recently tied the knot with partner of five years and former player at Oakham Rugby Club, Josh.

The pair met while working in ski resorts across Europe during the winter months, hitting it off in St Anton, Austria.

Despite one being a snowboarder and one a skier (an age-old feud), they spent the winter together both on and off the slopes, and managed to make it last while Evie worked away without Josh for one summer.

Josh headed out to Italy for another winter; the fateful year that Covid struck, sending him home early to live with Evie, who had just moved to Rutland.

Here is where the pair spent the next four years, Josh playing at the rugby club and Evie launching her career with Nub News in 2021 while undertaking postgraduate studies at The University of Sheffield.

In 2022, they got engaged on their first skiing holiday since the pandemic - a fitting place for the scenic proposal.

Evie and Josh finally tied to knot in January 2024 at a small ceremony at Sheffield Town Hall with only 24 of their nearest and dearest.

Congratulations to our Editor on this wonderful milestone.
