Oakham Castle launch ‘Tour and Tea’ in August providing fascinating insights into local history

Oakham Castle have announced they will be launching a new event called 'Tour and Tea.'
This event very much does what it says on the tin – enjoy a fascinating guided tour around Oakham's 12th Century Castle, taking in local history from your tour guide, as well as a taking in the town's historic spots, before indulging in a delicious brownie or slice of lemon drizzle and cup of tea at the Castle Cottage Café.

Oakham Castle is the finest surviving example of Norman domestic architecture in Europe. It was built between 1180 and 1190 and holds a unique collection of 230 ornate ceremonial horseshoes.
The castle is also adorned by a selection of 12th century sculptures and have been visited by a few famous faces in the last 800 years.
The county town of Oakham also has it's own rich history, including Norman architecture, historic streets, and Oakham School which was founded in 1584.
Join the guided tour for an insight into Oakham's rich history and then relax after your tour with a sweet treat and refreshing beverage.
The first 'Tour and Tea' will take place on Saturday 9th August with the tour running from 2pm to 3pm and the tea following from 3pm until 3.30pm.
