Following a series of nationwide rail strikes in June 2022, East Midlands Rail have announced that more strikes are set to take place on the 18th and 20th of August 2022.

This comes as Network Rail plan to cut 2,500 maintenance jobs as the company attempts to make £2bn worth of savings over the next two years.

As a result, strikes will be going ahead on the 18th and 20th of August, with EMR services operating between 7:30am and 6:30pm only.

Members of the RMT trade union across a number of Train Operating Companies have voted in favour of taking this industrial action.

Some routes will not be served and trains will be busier that usual, and trains that are scheduled to run will have heavily amended timetables.

National Rail said: "In the event of your service being affected by strike action cross industry ticket easements and acceptance may be made available. If you have purchased an Advance, Off-Peak or Anytime ticket and choose not to travel, you will be eligible for a change or refund from the original retailer of your ticket."
