Oakham Event of the Week: Proms in the Park this Sunday

14th Sep 2021 | Local News

Rutland Big Band is performing in Cutts Close Park on Sunday afternoon.

The performance at Oakham Bandstand is part of the weekly series of weekend events organised by Oakham Town Council.

The group will be in Cutts Close from 2.30pm to give a free two-hour performance.

They say on their website: "There's nothing quite like the sound of a live band to get your feet moving. We can liven up your PARTY, WEDDING, FESTIVAL, FETE OR FAIR with the old Sinatra style swing favourites, jazz numbers, or some party music to dance around to.

"The Rutland Big Band rejoice in being the Big Band from the smallest county. The band dates back to 2005 when a handful of Rutland musicians got together.

"Today the Band features accomplished musicians from all walks of life including music teachers, professionals and experienced brass instrumentalists and is in constant demand to perform across the Midlands."
