Oakham's Co-op Funeral Directors is helping families remember lost loved ones during the festive period.

The High Street funeral director is taking part in Central England Co-operative funeralcare's 'Christmas Memories' initiative to provide an opportunity for families to remember loved ones in a special way.

People are invited to collect a star from the premises, write on their own personalised message and hang it on a dedicated Christmas tree.

Head of Funeral for Central England Co-op Hazel Moss said: "As we head into Christmas and the New Year it's a time when thoughts turn to those no longer with us.

"We know that being able to share that memory is important to many and so through the stars on the tree, let's remember them together.

"Our colleagues love to welcome people into our funeral homes and to other community locations to have a chat and to place their message on the tree."

Lost loved ones can also be remembered by Tweeting @mycooplife with a personal tribute and including #mycoopstar.

Messages appear in the Christmas Memories gallery on the Central England Co-op website which can be viewed by clicking the red button below.
