An Oakham man who has a range of conditions plans to walk 30 miles for charity, which provides support dogs to those in need.

Patrick, or Paddy Devlin, is to undertake the Trekfest 50km in the Brecon Beacons of Wales on Saturday September 18.

To date, he has raised £365 towards a £1000 target for the charity Support Dogs.

Patrick, who is Head of Business Technology at Bradshaw Taylor Ltd, in Oakham said: "What a year, we all have had the year from hell including me.

"What with Kidney operations and blown blood vessels in my leg, I am still determined to walk 50km for support dogs the weekend after next because no matter how many times I've been in hospital, I'm still able to help these kids.

He added: "Can you kindly give a few pounds by supporting me on this walk, I'm going to need it."
