A new petition has been launched on Change.org, calling for the implementation of speed cameras on Ashwell Road in Oakham, east of Leicester.

Roxy Sugars, who started the petition, writes: "Ashwell Road, a busy thoroughfare in Oakham, has become a growing concern for residents due to the persistent problem of excessive speeding. This reckless behaviour poses a significant threat to the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike."

Lauren Stubbs, a supporter of Roxy's petition, adds: "On a daily occasion I walk this route to take my children to school, multiple vehicles have failed to slow down, even with the speed bumps they go in between them. I see cars braking harshly or swerving out of the way of children riding bikes on the correct side of the road and cars failing to stop at the zebra crossing whilst me and my children are waiting there to cross."
