Oakham: man charged with four counts of sexual assault after arrest in Oakham on Saturday

Mathew Verity, a 44-year-old man from Grantham has been charged with four counts of sexual assault after being arrested on Saturday in Oakham.

The arrest took place on Saturday the 5th of March 2022 outside the Tesco store in Oakham.

Verity was arrested after reports of online sexual assault were made against him.

On Monday the 7th of March 2022 he appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court charged with attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, arranging and facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, causing and inciting a boy aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity and the breach of a sexual harm prevention order.

Prior to this, Verity was placed on the Sex Offenders Register in 2016.

He was then arrested in 2018 after a successful police sting and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and imprisoned in 2020 for two years.

He was subsequently reprimanded for breaching court order.

Updates will be provided when a court decision is released.
