A site off Uppingham Road, Oakham, has seen the beginning of construction work to provide 84 new homes in the local area.

Davidsons Homes will soon be building a range of 2-, 3-, 4- and 5- bedroom homes, 25 of which will be affordable.

Davidsons Homes said: "At Davidsons, we draw inspiration from the towns and villages we build in, and our homes are crafted with traditional values.

"We firmly believe that the space around a home is just as important as the rooms we create within it, which is why our team of planners and architects consider themselves to be 'placemakers' – designing and creating communities like Oakham Pastures to be admired for generations to come."

The building works will come with a contribution from the company, through the Community Infrastructure Levy, of approximately £1million. This will support local infrastructure, including schools, roads and medical provisions.

The build will include new road structures to deal with additional traffic.
