Oakham Rugby Football Club (ORFC) are getting ready to face old rivals, Stamford, at a much-anticipated match this Saturday, 17 December 2022.

The match will be taking place at the Stamford ground, Hambleton Road, Stamford, PE9 2RZ, at 2:15pm, with pre game drinks and food available to pre book.

In the final match before Christmas, the neighbouring teams will face off in this tough game, with chilly conditions and keen competition anticipated.

ORFC President, Chris Burton, said: "We always look forward to the Stamford fixture both home and away as it is always a healthy local rivalry played in great spirit. Stamford won the fixture at Oakham earlier in the season which was their first victory over Oakham both home and away for a couple of seasons so they will be confident of continuing their recent good form.

"However, Oakham will be looking to redress the balance of the earlier reverse to give their season a boost going into the new year. Whatever the result I'm sure that a large enthusiastic crowd will enjoy an entertaining and competitive game going into Christmas"

Last week's 1st team home game between Oakham and St Ives was called off due to opposition fearing that the pitch was too hard, so let's hope for a good, competitive game this weekend, with all fingers crossed that the snow holds off.

As the league table stands, Oakham are at number 10, while Stamford sit at number 4 - so it might well be a tough one for Oakham, but the local team certainly have a point to prove!
