Oakham: Rutland County Council to host Children’s Services Scrutiny Committee meeting

Following a series of meetings between Rutland County Council and SEND parent and carer groups, RCC will be hosting a Zoom meeting to discuss Children's Services in Rutland.

This meeting is set to take place on Thursday the 21st of April 2022 and will be hosted by The Children's Scrutiny Committee.

The Children's Scrutiny Committee is made up by a selection of Rutland County Councillors, who are due to discuss the Children's Services Department of Rutland County Council.

Individuals in Rutland who have SEND children, work with children within the SEND community, and have issues that they would like to raise, are encouraged to attend the upcoming meeting. 

Prior to this, one group of parents and carers, Send Action Rutland, sent an open letter to Cllr Paul Ainslie, the Head of the Children's Services Scrutiny Committee. The committee have been working closely with SEND parents and guardians since the Council and families met on the 17th of March 2022 to battle out their concerns

Send Action Rutland are a group of parents rallying to increase the level of care provided for their children. They have released a statement about their concerns prior to this meeting that can be found on their Facebook page. 

The group added: "We are stronger together, and if we want real change for our children, then we must speak out and fight for the future of them."
