Oakham School have announced they will welcome their first female Headteacher in the school's 440-year history.
Lucy Pearson will take up the role in Summer 2026, succeeding Henry Price, who will leave that summer to become Principal of Rugby School in Dubai.
Lucy has a very personal connection to the school, having attended it herself from 1983, going on to become Head Girl and later President of the Old Oakhamian Club.
Her return to Oakham School will represent a meaningful reconnection to the community which she credits shaping her values and opening doors through bursary support.
After leaving Oakham School, she went on to study English at Oxford and represented England twice in international cricket.
She was twice names Vodafone England Women's Player of the Year, which has cemented her strong leadership skills, dedication and appreciation for elite performance.
In her own words, Lucy said: 'Returning to Oakham feels incredibly special. The School opened doors for me, not least through the bursary support that made my education here possible, and it instilled the skills and values that have shaped every stage of my life.
'I feel privileged to be returning as Head, to lead a school that gave me so much, and I look forward to helping today's pupils discover their own paths with the same encouragement and belief I was given.'
