Warner's Sweets at Rutland Garden Village, has welcomed a five star food hygiene rating this week.

Chris Warner, owner of the local sweet shop, took to social media to celebrate the news that the shop had been awarded the top rating after relocating from its former home on Oakham's Church Street.

He said: "So, we had a little visit this week at our new shop at the Rutland Garden Centre from the great people at the council, and we are pleased to share that we got a five star rating, and even a smiley face too!

"As ever, I am always aware of health and hygiene, labelling and everything to do with food and food sales when making fudge and gifts and so are my staff, so we are delighted that this has been recognised."

Formerly based in Oakham's Market Street, the shop has been satisfying the sweet tooth of Rutland residents since it opened in December 2021.

The team sell sweets, treats, Rossi's ice cream straight from Essex, their own homemade fudge and much more.

The family-run business has been working hard to grow the business together over the last two years, and have launched an online service, TikTok and many new products.

Last month, they took their next big business move and relocated to Rutland Garden Village, and can be found at the back of the shopping complex next to the ever-popular Radish restaurant.

Chris said: "We are still offering all your traditional favourites as well as being able to make our Warners Rutland Fudge onsite in the new shop.

"We officially reopened in early November, and are now open seven days a week as well as continuing with local markets and other events over the festive season.

"Look out for our unique Christmas products again and so new great gift ideas for the festive season."

The team are also stocking a Rutland-based book by author Tracey Dene Powell, 'Oncar's Adventure at Rutland Water', an exciting children's book being sold to support local primary schools.
