Oakham's Christmas festivities will be a little different this year.

Changes were agreed by members of Oakham Town Council, following a report by town councillor Sally Wadsworth.

After the Wednesday meeting, town mayor Zoe Nealson posted on social media: "Oakham Town Council are doing Christmas differently this year!

"Instead of gathering in the market place to do the official light switch on we would like to invite you all to a Christmas Fayre at Cutts Close Park on Sunday 5th December 2021 where there will be performances and stalls all under cover of a marquee!"

She added: "So put the date in your diaries and keep an eye on this page for more information."

Following comments on social media, people were also told there will still be a tree in Market Place.

A comment from Laura Dalby also said Late Night Shopping would be taking place on December 13.
