Stephen Lambert is one of four nominees hoping to take on the Uppingham Ward vacancy on the 5th of May 2022 during the local by-elections.

Stephen is the Liberal Democrat nominee and hopes that his youth, innovation and enthusiasm to be in touch with the local constituents will win him votes.

Stephen lives in Uppingham with his partner and their dog, Peanut. He has recently been appointed a governor at UCC.

Stephen's main policies are:

  • to be a visible, active and accessible councillor
  • to ensure that any new development in the town is appropriate
  • to speak up for county's younger people.

Stephen said: "If elected, I hope to restore some faith in local politics, by being a visible, active and accessible councillor. I feel that it's wrong that most of us don't hear from our local councillor outside of election time and so I intend keep in touch all year round, as well as to hold regular surgeries, so that residents can hold me to account or seek advice.

"As a (relatively) younger person, I also hope to be able to bring some fresh ideas to the council and to speak up for our often-overlooked younger generations. As a younger person, I can offer a different perspective on the council and hopefully draw attention to some issues that I feel aren't currently treated seriously, such as mental health provision and climate change.

"I live in Uppingham with my partner and our pet dog, Peanut, who we enjoy exploring Rutland with whenever we get chance. In my spare time, I enjoy running and recently raised £600 for the Rutland foodbank, by running 100 miles over a month-long period. This May, I will be graduating after spending six years studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the Open University."
