Plans for a brand-new outdoor classroom at Oakham School have been approved by Rutland County Council.

Mr Waghorn, of Oakham School, submitted a planning application for the erection of a 19x19 timber frame on land to the rear of Station Road back in July.

No new or altered vehicle access was proposed and the application form says "as the site was occupied by an existing structure and a concrete hardstanding, I am of the opinion the effect of the development is de minimus".

It has not been stated what exactly the new classroom will be used for (Nub News).

The land has previously been granted planning permission for a workshop and messroom in 1985, five lock-up garages in 1988 and a gardeners store and greenhouse in 1991.

It has not been stated what exactly the new classroom will be used for, but the plans were approved by Rutland County Council this week.

Oakham Town Council submitted a comment in favour of the application and said "fully supported by the councillors and the design is very in keeping with the school".
