Pub reopens in Oakham with the opportunity to test the Nepalese menu for free
The Angler, Oakham, has changed hands once again, this time offering the chance to try before you buy on its menu of Nepalese food.
Reopening on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th for drinks, the pub and restaurant will open their doors to customers on Sunday offering the opportunity to try tasters of their new menu for free.
Owners took to Facebook to advertise their change, saying "Pop along and see what we have to offer and taste Nepalese cuisine – we're confident you'll love it!"
The Angler will follow in the footsteps of its sister pubs The Railway in Whittlesey, The Bell in Sawtry and The Old Crown in Girton.
There are high hopes for the new menu, with the menu at The Railway in Whittlesey being very highly regarded.
One customer wrote on TripAdvisor: "First time going for us. Food was delicious, staff were friendly, and they can give you tubs to take leftovers home. Would visit again as want to try the mixed grill – they arrive at the table sizzling and look really good."
This creates an opportunity for The Angler at Oakham to rebuild its reputation. Under previous management, reviewers often complained about poor customer service, underwhelming food and a very limited menu.
Taking to Facebook in response to the announcement, some locals took the view that the pub was just going through another cycle of new management and change just to fail again, with one commenting: "Not Again!"
However, the majority of commenters were hopeful that the future of this establishment could be about to change, with one woman commenting that The Bell at Sawtry is one of the best takeaways they have ever had, expressing hope that this will be replicated in Oakham.
The Angler will open for drink Friday 6th and Saturday 7th September, followed by the chance to try their taster menu for free 3pm to 6pm on Sunday 8th September.
