East Midlands Railway (EMR) is urging those travelling to BBC Radio 2 in the Park this weekend to make sure they leave enough time to catch their last train home.

More than 75,000 people are expected to attend the event at Victoria Park in Leicester, and the train company has strengthened its services to the city to allow as many of its customers as possible to enjoy the show.

However, it is urging festival-goers to think carefully about how they intend to get their train home. It's a 15-minute walk from the park to the train station, and EMR is advising people to factor that into their journey when making their plans for the exciting event.

EMR is also advising customers to book their tickets ahead of the day.

Mike O'Callaghan-Staples, Head of Stations at East Midlands Railway, said: "We are expecting our services to be very busy as people flock to the city to take part in this fantastic event.

"We are playing our part by operating as many extra carriages as we can, but we need a little help from festival-goers to make sure their journey home is a relaxed one.

"We are urging customers to book their tickets in advance where possible, allow plenty of time to get home and understand how the 15-minute walk from the park to the station affects the time they should leave the festival.

"We expect those last trains of the day following the concert to be especially busy and want customers to plan ahead."
