Residents and staff at an Oakham care home have recently hosted a party celebrating a big birthday.

Rutland Care Village played host to an anniversary bash for residents to mark 40 years, and festivities included music, food, sweets and snacks, and singing.

The event took place in June, and was a celebration of the 40th anniversary of PrimeLife, the founding company.

Celebrating the decade that the company was formed, the staff and residents enjoyed a 1980's themed party held in the Brambles Activity Centre within the care village complex.

Festivities started at 11am with music provided by Zechariah Seekins from ZPBS Music, who entertained residents with 80's themed saxophone music.

Residents attended a BBQ cooked on site, and enjoyed 80's themed sweets and snacks including pickled onion, pineapple and cheese hedgehogs, flying saucers and other treats.

To round off the feast, dessert was trifle and Viennetta which were kindly donated by Emma, the community support representative at Oakham Tesco, who went "above and beyond" for the local care facility.

The afternoon saw singing and music by Dick Ryman, which concluded the day of fun.

It was a great event enjoyed by residents at Rutland Care Village and staff alike.
