Rutland residents who are living with or caring with someone with dementia are being urged to take part in a consultation that will help shape Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland's (LLR) Dementia Strategy 2024-2028.

An updated strategy to support people living with dementia has been launched by Leicestershire's health, social care and voluntary sector organisations.

The draft strategy sets out how LLR Dementia Programme Board, which includes Rutland County Council, seeks to support people with dementia, including families and professionals, as well as making communities more dementia-friendly.

Priorities of the 2024 – 2028 strategy include 'diagnosing well', which ensures people have equal access to dementia care by acknowledging inequalities, and living well, with the aim of giving everyone the opportunity to live life to the full post-diagnosis.

The consultation on the draft strategy is open now and runs until Friday 22nd September. To take part and have your say, head online.

Rutland County Council's Portfolio Holder for Adults and Health, Cllr Diane Ellison, said: 'We really want people living with dementia in the Rutland area to get involved in the consultation and be the voice for our county. It is vital that they contribute to the strategy to ensure that the priorities reflect what those living with dementia, and those caring for someone with dementia, need.'

Once the consultation has closed, all of the feedback received will be reviewed and used to develop the detailed action plans which will support this strategy.
