Rocketman screening at Oakham Castle fails to lift off

28th Aug 2020 | Local News

Organisers of tonight's (Fri) outdoor cinema screening at Oakham Castle have had to cancel the event due to heavy downpours.

In a statement to ticket holders around three hours before the start of the evening's entertainment, Star & Mouse Outdoor Cinema, said: "After much battling in the rain we have sadly no other option but to cancel tonight's screening of Rocketman.

"The heavy rain has produced much soft ground on site, sadly this has meant that the earth will not hold the stakes that hold the screen in place safely.

"It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Oakham Castle for us will have to wait until next year.

"To everyone who has supported this event, we are sorry not to see you this year.

"We shall of course be refunding you."
