'Root-and-Branch Out' with a range of food and wellbeing activities in Rutland

Branch out with a local charity focusing on food waste, education and wellbeing in Rutland.
Root-and-Branch Out CIC engage communities in projects around food and the outdoors, nature and the environment. The team offer educational opportunities, allotment/food growing projects, woodland management, sustainable crafts and surplus food Community Fridges. They also work with preschools, schools, home educating families, adults of all ages and abilities and the wider community.
As well as running the Oakham, Uppingham and Greetham Community Fridges in Rutland, the team host forest school and an allotment project, Growers Row.
Last month, the local allotment initiative was recognised by Rutland's outgoing High Sheriff.
Growers Row enjoyed a surprise from the exiting High Sheriff, Geraldine Feehally, who recognised the team with an award in recognition of great and valuable services for the community.
This month, the team are also hosting community yoga sessions aimed at supporting families and those with SEND and mental health issues as well as accessibility challenges.
The class is designed to be accessible for all ages and abilities and, although this course is sold out, is just one of the many highlights offered by the charity.
Growers Row Shared Garden is open to the public on Wednesdays at the Rutland Showground between 10am and 3pm.
The community fridges are open:
- Oakham Station: Friday from 10 - 11:30am
- Victoria Hall Wednesday from 5:30pm - 7pm
- Uppingham Town Hall: Friday from 1:30 - 3pm
The Greetham fridge also takes place every other Saturday from 10am:

- 8 June
- 29 June
- 13 July
- 27 July
