An Oakham attraction is hitting the road with some of its furry friends this year at a series of family-friendly events.

Rutland Farm Park is heading to Melton Mowbray's freshly rebranded Stockyard.

Launching last year, the 1,000-year-old market moved to its current location in 1869, an has been the largest town centre stock market in the UK since.

As well as hosting regular foodie events, with the aim of being the food tourism capital of the country, the venue holds a Stockyard Saturday event every month.

This event welcomes families and foodie fanatics as a range of local sellers, creatives and family run businesses collide in a one-day extravaganza celebrating rural produce and activities.

Oakham's own Rutland Farm Park is one of these family-run businesses.

Headed up by owners and hands-on managers Clive and Julie, the family-friendly farm has been a top spot for grownups and children since it reopened in 2017 after being closed for over a decade.

It brags a range of attractions and features, including a café, play park, animal petting and feeding sessions, a selection of home and handmade and allergy-friendly goodies available at Daphne's Tea Room, seasonal activities and a collection of rare breed animals.

Now, the fun is hitting the road at the monthly stockyard Saturdays in Melton Mowbray.

The team will be in Melton on 12 August, 9 September and 14 October 2023, from 12pm until 4pm with some of their funny animals, so make sure that you pop by for a cuddle with the guinea pigs and rabbit, Bruno, who is a new addition to the yard.

Rutland Farm Park will also be hosting a family fun day in August in memory of Rich, a loving man and 'gentle giant' who passed away a decade ago.

Volunteers are needed to help support the day, and families to attend, enjoy the fun, and help raise funds for Blood Cancer UK. Click here to find out how you can get involved.
