Rutland Community First Responders have announced their July statistics, revealing that they attended nearly 80 Rutland based cases last month.
Community First Responders are volunteers who give their time freely to help save lives in their community. Responders are everyday members of the general public who are trained in the use of Automated External Defibrillators and the treatment and control of a wide range of potentially life threatening conditions.
Despite a few of their First Responders taking holiday time with their families over the summer break, the team still managed to cover 498 responding hours.
This totalled 79 callouts attended and 30 miscellaneous hours covering first aid, training and much more behind the scenes work.
During these 79 callouts, they dealt with a range of traumatic injuries, from allergic reactions to cardiac arrests and everything in between: trips and falls, diabetic hypos and hypers, chocking, paediatrics, and back pain.
They also reported a rise in difficulty in breathing, which can be exacerbated by the hot, humid weather.
Thank you to the Rutland Community First Responders!
